As part of the WSIS+10 Review Event (25-27 February 2013), UNESCO has addressed, together with its partners, the major challenges in building Knowledge Societies for sustainable development. This first multi-stakeholder review event will look at the WSIS Action Lines’ achievements, and has analyzed recent developments as well as forecasts. It also recommended some input to the post-2015 process.

ICVolunteers took an active part in one of the sessions, focusing on WSIS Prize and Stocktaking Process. The purpose of the session is to brainstorm in the multistakeholder setup on the WSIS Stocktaking Process and its strategic role in the review process of the implementation of the WSIS outcomes and elaboration of the vision beyond 2015. The session will also serve as the platform to showcase the efforts undertaken by stakeholders towards building the Information Society and achieving WSIS goals.

The schedule of the meeting:

  • The role of WSIS Stocktaking Process since 2004 and an analysis about present trends and challenges
  • WSIS Project Prizes as unique recognition for excellence in the implementation of WSIS outcomes and release of the publication with all nominated projects for WSIS Project Prizes 2013
  • Case Studies presented by main contributors to the WSIS Stocktaking Process sharing their experience and lessons learnt
  • Consultation Part on the strategic role
