ICVolunteers Projects Calendar2011 Indigenous FellowshipProject at a glanceDates and Place20 June - 22 July 2011, Geneva, SwitzerlandOrganizersOffice of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Project detailsThe Indigenous Fellowship Programme was launched in 1997 by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the context of the first International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People (1995-2004). Since its creation, a total of 196 indigenous representatives from all over the world have benefited from this programme. The Fellowship is a comprehensive training programme, which aims to empower indigenous representatives and their communities by strengthening their knowledge of the United Nations human rights system and of protecting their human rights. The result is that the trained Fellows are more aware of existing UN instruments and, hence, better equipped to assist their organizations and communities. In 2011, the Indigenous Fellowship will take place from 20 June to 22 July, however, simultaneous interpretation will not necessarily be needed for the whole period. For this year’s programme we are looking for the following simultaneous interpreters:
