Project details

The first ever European Fair Trade is an initiative lead by Equi'Sol and partners which aims at helping Fair Trade supply chains and promote Fair Trade at the European level.

The event has 3 main goals: to contribute and to develop Fair Trade by making supply and demand meet, foster contacts and business between European professionals; to mobilise European stakeholders and different networks in order to create a space for exchanges and constructive debates; to raise public awareness on Fair Trade issues and highlight the variety of Fair Trade products.

The fair will gather some 150 exhibitors from across Europe and will welcome more than 8000 visitors. The first part of the fair (Friday 1st February and Saturday 2nd February) will be dedicated to professional visitors, importers, wholesalers, shops, distributors, public authorities. Actors working in the field of education, awareness raising and lobbying, as well as NGOs involved in development will also participate. The second part of the fair (Saturday 2nd February from lunch time until Sunday) will be open to the general public.

Besides the showroom, the fair will offer round tables on issues like the impact of Fair Trade in the South, fair public procurement and the development of fair trade in the tourism sector; internal debates about European regulations and strategies; conferences for the general public in order to raise awareness and increase knowledge on Fair Trade issues.
